The quality of public services remains an important challenge in achieving good governance and strengthening public trust in government institutions. This article presents the outcomes of a community engagement and applied research program conducted through an internship at the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, Banten Representative Office. The program aimed to enhance public service supervision, improve complaint management, and increase public awareness of citizens' rights and complaint mechanisms. A participatory and practice-based approach was implemented through direct observation, administrative assistance, complaint verification, documentation, public service monitoring, and participation in public outreach activities. The program supported institutional operations while identifying issues related to maladministration and service delivery. The results showed improvements in administrative efficiency, institutional capacity in handling public complaints, and community understanding of transparent, accountable, and responsive public services. Furthermore, the internship strengthened students' practical competencies by integrating academic knowledge with professional experience. Overall, the program demonstrates that collaboration between higher education institutions and public agencies can promote community empowerment, encourage social innovation, improve public accountability, and contribute to sustainable community development through better public service governance and active citizen participation.
